About Midorico

At the heart of Midorico is a simple belief: tea should be honest, thoughtful, and steeped in tradition.

Midorico began with a daily ritual, with one bowl of matcha in the middle of a hectic day. What started as a moment of escape soon turned into a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship, culture, and quiet discipline behind Japanese tea. But as our interest grew, we noticed something was missing. Too often, teas sold online came with vague origins, inflated prices, and inconsistent quality.

We set out to change that.

At Midorico, we source directly from Farms in Kyoto, Nara and Kagoshima. We do not have brokers, or middlemen and partner with growers who care deeply about their craft and share our values around sustainability, quality, and transparency.

What Our Name Means

Our name, Midorico, is inspired by the Japanese word midori (緑), meaning "green." It speaks to the color of our teas, the freshness of our ingredients, and our commitment to harmony with nature. It’s also a tribute to the culture we admire and strive to honor through every product we share.  We don’t just love tea, we also respect what it represents in Japanese culture: balance, intentionality, humility, and a reverence for tradition. These values guide how we operate, how we source, and how we connect with our customers.

Midorico is built on four key principles:

Transparency:  You know exactly what you’re drinking: the grade, the flush, and where it came from.

Quality:  The finest tea we proudly drink ourselves.

Accessibility: Premium tea without a premium markup. We price fairly so more people can enjoy it daily.

Purpose: 5% of our profits go to charitable causes. Because good business should give back.

The leaves are shade-grown to enhance flavor and color, and they are harvested at their peak.
